Men's Race
1st Place: Sisay Lemma (Ethiopia)
Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia won the 2024 Boston Marathon men's race in a time of 2:09:40. It was Lemma's first Boston Marathon victory and his second World Marathon Major title, following his win at the 2023 Chicago Marathon. Lemma pulled away from the field in the last three miles, breaking away from runner-up and 2022 New York City Marathon champion Sharon Lokedi.
2nd Place: Sharon Lokedi (Kenya)
Sharon Lokedi of Kenya finished second in the men's race with a time of 2:10:24. Lokedi, who won the 2022 New York City Marathon, was in contention for the victory until the final miles when Lemma surged ahead.
3rd Place: CJ Albertson (United States)
CJ Albertson of the United States finished third in the men's race with a time of 2:10:45. Albertson was the top American finisher in the race.
Women's Race
1st Place: Emma Bates (United States)
Emma Bates of the United States won the 2024 Boston Marathon women's race in a time of 2:28:45. It was Bates' first Boston Marathon victory and her first World Marathon Major title. Bates pulled away from the field in the final miles, breaking away from runner-up and 2023 London Marathon champion Desiree Linden.
2nd Place: Desiree Linden (United States)
Desiree Linden of the United States finished second in the women's race with a time of 2:29:06. Linden, who won the 2018 Boston Marathon, was in contention for the victory until the final miles when Bates surged ahead.
3rd Place: Catherine Wreford (United Kingdom)
Catherine Wreford of the United Kingdom finished third in the women's race with a time of 2:29:22. Wreford was the top European finisher in the race.
